What Is a Charter Flight? Complete Beginner's Guide
Published January 10, 2026 · 7 min read
If you've ever wondered what a charter flight is and how it differs from a regular airline ticket, you're in the right place. A charter flight is simply the private rental of an entire aircraft for your exclusive use. Unlike commercial flights where you buy a single seat, chartering means the whole plane is yours.
How Charter Flights Work
You tell us route, date, time, passengers and baggage. We provide indicative options from; the operator confirms the aircraft, terms and final price. Once confirmed, follow the FBO address and reporting time in the final itinerary.
Types of Charter Flights
Full Charter: The most common option. You rent the entire aircraft exclusively. You choose the route, schedule, and aircraft type. Maximum flexibility and privacy.
Empty Leg: A repositioning sector without passengers. If the operator makes it available, route, date, aircraft, terms and price are confirmed in a specific quote; there is no fixed discount.
Group Charter: Above 14 passengers, the provider must review a higher-capacity aircraft or coordinated solution. No model or price is promised before review.
